Rural Development of Bangladesh.

Rural Development of Bangladesh.
Development of Bangladesh means rural development. We know that our country is land of villages and rivers. More than 80 percent of her people live in villages. So the importance of villages in our body politic is great. The development of the entire country depends on the welfare of this villages. So it is essential to keep the villages in a flourishing condition.
Rural development has various aspects in Bangladesh. The most important of them are agriculture, education, communication, sanitary and health, cottage industries, fishery, co-operative societies community life etc.
Communication is essential for the development of the villages. Our government has taken some practical measures with this end in view. Many new roads have been constructed and many old roads and culverts have been repaired. There are also some pucca roads. Now-a-days we see the buses, auto rickshaws etc move on the pucca roads in the rural areas. Today farmers are sending their products to and cities. It has been possible only because of the improvement of the communication. But this is not enough. Means of communication should be developed more.
Proverb goes, “Education is the backbone of nation.” Without education cannot prosper in their life. Certainly education illuminates the soul, broadens the outlooks of life, and dispels the darkness of ignorance. Bangladesh is a poor country. About 85 percent of her population live in village. A large amount of them do not know how to read and write. We cannot reach the prosperity and progress until and unless we can remove the curse of illiteracy from the lot of our people. Our government has put the top most significance on education and paid due attention to this much talked problem. Our government is determined to free the nation from curse of illiteracy within a very short time. Thousands of educational institutions have been established to flood the rural areas with the light of education.
Agriculture is the most important things of her economy. Because, Bangladesh is agriculture dependent country. We know that about eighty percent people are engaged in agriculture who live in villages. Even in this modern scientific age our agriculture is very backward. But at present it is a very happy news that our government has taken active steps and necessary measures for the progress of agriculture, such as supplying the farmers with modern scientific tools for cultivation, good seeds, fertilizer at a cheaper rate, agriculture loans on easy terms and many other things, irrigation system has been improved. Government has been adopted to control natural calamities.
The proverb goes, “Health is wealth.” People’s sound health is the greatest blessing on any country. But we are far from this blessing. As most of the peoples are illiterate, they have no knowledge of health and sanitation. Most of the villagers are suffer from various diseases. They look like skeleton. But this miserable condition is changing slowly. A lot of hospitals, clinics, health centers and charitable dispensaries have been set up in rural areas to ensure health facilities to the poor rural people.
Bangladesh also faces crisis of pure drinking water. People used to drink water from rivers and ponds. This is a very dangerous problem. As a result, they suffered from many water born diseases. Now-a-days every village has at least one or more tube wells.
If our government try to engage our villagers the cottage industries are revived and developed. They can earn a decent living from them. The cottage industries can provide employment to a large number of people. Our unemployment problem must be eradicate from our country. People are being developed through co-operative schemes.

Poultry and livestock and fish cultivating can develop our villagers. Government has paid the villagers to buy their essential things for farm.
